Former Benton County Circuit Judge Jon Comstock is the Democratic candidate for House District 96 in the Arkansas Legislature.

He has had a distinguished legal career that has included a private practice for eighteen years in Tulsa, OK. In 1994 he was recruited by Walmart Stores, Inc. to be a Senior Litigation Counsel and eventually served as their Senior Associate General Counsel for their Information Systems Security and Privacy Offices.

In July 2011, then Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe appointed Jon to complete the term of Circuit Judge David Clinger to Arkansas’ 19th Judicial District West - Division II.

During his years in law and in the corporate world, he discovered a passion for building consensus among opposing groups. Toward that end, he operates a one-person mediation office, Comstock Conflict Resolution Services. Through mediation he routinely helps people “get things done” by coming to a mutual agreement despite having very different views and positions. He also launched Public Discussion NWA, providing a space where people can have a respectful dialog about serious issues affecting our communities.

He has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Arkansas College of Law in Fayetteville teaching multiple courses and is engaged in various pro bono efforts in the area of Arkansas’ civil and criminal justice systems.  He is an original member of Judicial Equality for Mental Illness (“JEMI”) which seeks to improve the mental health care provided to the incarcerated and is a member of the NWA Prison Reentry Coalition.

Jon has a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University and received his Juris Doctor at the University of Tulsa School of Law.
